Background

DCA is a registered international NGO in Sudan with a Country Office in Port Sudan. We are looking for an experienced Protection Officer, The Protection Officer will be responsible for ensuring that protection principles, safe programming, and Do‑No‑Harm approaches are integrated/ and or mainstreamed across all DCA interventions in Sudan. The role provides technical support, conducts field monitoring, strengthens partner capacity, and contributes to protection assessments, analysis, and reporting, with a specific focus on Group Cash Transfers (GCT). The role involves identifying protection risks, supporting community-based protection structures, and ensuring that GCT reaches the most vulnerable and responsive to community priorities. without doing harm.

The Protection Officer will work under the supervision of the Head of programme (HoP)/ and HQ protection advisor.

This position will be based in Port Sudan/ with possibility to go back to Khartoum and with field travels to the areas of operation. 

Duties and responsibilities

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required

Education 

• A bachelor´s degree in Law, Social Sciences, preferably in Psychology, Sociology, Counselling, or Law.
• At least 2 years of practical experience in the field of protection with a national or international NGOs.
• Experience working with local partners.
• Excellent knowledge of computers and the usual software and applications.
• Fluent spoken and written Arabic and English is essential.

Competencies and experience:

• Strong understanding of protection principles, PSEA, safeguarding, AAP, and Do‑No‑Harm.
• Knowledge of Sudan’s humanitarian context and the protection environment across states.
• Ability to conduct field visits in difficult environments.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to deliver trainings and mentor partners.
• Good analytical, reporting, and documentation skills.
• Fluency in Arabic and good command of English (spoken and written).

Desirable

• Knowledge of SCLR/GCT modalities or community-led programming approaches.
• Flexibility, strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure, and capacity to operate effectively in a multicultural environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Kobo.

• A contract for One year, starting Sep 2026, with a three-month probation period.
