Under the supervision of the Project Medical Referent, the Medical Doctor – Staff Health implements MSF staff health protocols, conducts medical assessments, manages occupational health risks, supports mental health and psychosocial well-being, and ensures appropriate referral and follow-up for staff requiring medical attention. The role contributes to maintaining a healthy, safe, and productive workforce in alignment with MSF OCG staff health policies and guidelines</p><h4>Duties and responsibilities</h4><p> </p><figure class="table"><table><tbody><tr><td> </td></tr><tr><td><strong>Clinical Medical Care</strong></td></tr><tr><td><ul><li>Consultations and Treatment: Provide direct clinical consultations, diagnosis, and treatment for staff presenting with acute and chronic medical conditions, in accordance with MSF standard treatment protocols and national clinical guidelines.</li><li>Follow-up: Ensure timely follow-up of staff under treatment, monitor progress, and adjust management plans as clinically indicated.</li><li>Referral Management: Identify medical cases requiring specialist care or hospitalization, coordinate referrals to pre-identified medical facilities, and maintain active follow-up until resolution.</li><li>Emergency Response: Act as the first clinical responder for staff medical emergencies at project level; stabilize patients and coordinate evacuation or transfer in close collaboration with the PMR.</li></ul></td></tr><tr><td><ul><li>Vaccination: Implement and monitor staff vaccination programmes in line with MSF guidelines and country-specific requirements.</li><li>Health Risk Assessment: Identify and monitor occupational health hazards in the workplace (biological, chemical, physical, ergonomic); recommend and follow up on protective measures with support from the PMR.</li><li>Health Education: Deliver health briefings, awareness sessions, and educational materials to staff on relevant health topics including endemic diseases, hygiene, nutrition, and occupational safety.</li></ul></td></tr><tr><td><ul><li>Psychological First Aid: Provide initial psychological first aid to staff following critical incidents, traumatic events, or acute stress reactions.</li><li>Referral to MHPSS Services: Identify staff in need of psychological support and facilitate timely referral to counselling services, peer support networks, or dedicated MHPSS specialists as available.</li><li>Awareness and Destigmatization: Promote mental health awareness among staff and contribute to a working environment that is supportive and free of stigma around mental health.</li><li>Staff briefings: Participate in or facilitate health briefings for new staff in coordination with the PMR.</li></ul></td></tr><tr><td><ul><li>Stock Management: Ensure adequate stock levels of medications and consumables for staff health activities; place orders in coordination with the PMR and pharmacy teams.</li><li>Rational Use of Medicines: Prescribe and dispense medications in strict accordance with MSF treatment protocols, promoting rational drug use and avoiding wastage.</li></ul></td></tr><tr><td><ul><li>Data and Reporting: Collect, compile, and submit regular reports on staff health activities, consultations, trends, and challenges to the PMR; contribute to sitreps as required.</li><li>Coordination: Collaborate actively with the PMR, HR team, to ensure a cohesive and harmonized approach to staff health at project level.</li><li>Confidentiality: Maintain strict medical confidentiality in all staff health matters in line with MSF ethics and data protection standards.</li><li>Coordinate with all pre-identified staff health and referral hospitals for timely submission of all invoices to MSF to process timely payment.</li></ul><p> </p></td></tr></tbody></table></figure><h4>Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required</h4><figure class="table"><table><tbody><tr><td><ol><li><strong>Education</strong></li></ol></td><td><p>Essential Medical Doctor diploma and valid registration in Sudan Medical Council</p><p>Desirable diploma in Tropical Medicine.</p></td></tr><tr><td><ol><li><strong>Experience</strong></li></ol></td><td>2 year experience minimum as a Medical Doctor or in clinical work (can be within medical training).
