Today, more than 4,500 people, including 3,500 national field staff and 300 international staff, work for HI in a wide range of contexts, implementing more than 400 projects in over 60 countries.</p><ol><li>Humanity & Inclusion in Sudan</li></ol><p>HI has initiated its programmatic response to the Sudan crisis in January 2024. Together with a Sudanese NGO, we provide physical and functional rehabilitation as well as mental health & psychosocial support in health centers and communities. HI is further leading to disability inclusion mainstreaming at humanitarian coordination level. </p><p> </p><p>HI is scaling up its intervention in Sudan while expanding its programmatic and geographical scope, to respond to the catastrophic humanitarian crisis affecting Sudanese people.</p><h2> </h2><h2>General Mission</h2><p>Under the operational supervision of the Project Manager and the technical supervision of the Technical Officer – Rehabilitation and the Physiotherapist, the Physiotherapy Assistant provides physical and provides inpatient, and outpatient physical and functional rehabilitation services in Tawila Sudan. </p><h4>Duties and responsibilities</h4><h2>Missions/responsibilities (*) </h2><p><strong>Mission 1: Strategy and steering </strong></p><p> </p><ul><li>Support the Project Manager in mapping existing health services in the designated health facility or area. </li><li>Coordinate with the Health actor or assigned health facility doctors to proper identification and Service provision.</li><li>Ensure external referrals and follow-up, by gathering feedback on service provided for documentation. </li><li>Manages the reporting of the team rehabilitation sector to the Project Manager or Technical office in link with the Physiotherapist </li><li>Closely follow-up individual and familial cases to ensure timely follow-up of all the beneficiaries </li><li>Place referral of beneficiaries identified for specialized service when necessary </li><li>Ensure proper documentation and reporting as required by HI and TU </li><li>Ensure the implementation</strong></p><h2>Responsibility 1: Provision of Physical and Functional Rehabilitation </h2><p> </p><ul><li>Provide rehabilitation care with the support of the Physiotherapist to the most critical and highpriority cases according to the guidelines of HI’s emergency rehabilitation interventions. </li><li>Under the supervision of the Physiotherapist pre-screening and prioritization for accurate assessment, planning, and provision of appropriate therapy to the beneficiaries including ongoing evaluation/re-assessment of the beneficiaries within the constraints of the project resources and using local resources at the fixed point, the beneficiaries’ home, and where relevant. </li><li>According to the outcomes of the assessment of the beneficiaries’ needs (taking into account her/his daily activities, the participation of her/his caregiver, etc.…), and consultation with the Rehab Officer develop an appropriate rehab intervention and treatment plan. </li><li>Ensure rehabilitation outcomes to a person should focus on achieving and maintaining “OPTIMAL FUNCTIONING” in interaction with their environment, personal, and outcome factors. </li><li>Familiarize yourself with the global physical and functional rehabilitation approaches of the Handicap International Federation (Humanity & Inclusion). </li><li>Inform the beneficiary and the caregiver about the importance of rehabilitation services to improve the physical situation and daily function. </li><li>Offer rehabilitation services based on the defined objectives between the beneficiary and the caregiver. </li><li>Review the most recent information on the beneficiary’s evolution before starting a treatment session and adapt your treatment or seek technical advice from your Rehabilitation Officer & Senior Technical Officer- Rehabilitation whenever needed. </li><li>Ensure the safety of the beneficiary during the rehabilitation sessions and take into account contradictions and precautions related to diverse illnesses, problems, and medical treatments. refer for medical advice if needed (DO NO HARM). </li><li>Advice and train the beneficiary and the caregivers on the basic exercises, modification of tasks, and home activities that the beneficiary can do on his/her own or with/without support from caregivers on the way to prevent complications or disabling situations. </li></ul><p> </p><h2>Responsibility 2: Provision of Assistive Devices and Rehabilitation Equipment Management </h2><p> </p><p>Identify the beneficiary’s needs (for critical and high-priority cases) in terms of assistive devices and mobility aids by seeking support from the Physiotherapist to ensure as per HI guidelines. </p><ul><li>Ensure that the device is adapted to user needs and provide clear explanations to guarantee its safe and proper use and maintenance. </li><li>Ensure a proper follow-up on the use and wean off the assistive device </li><li>Ensure the provision of assistive devices is made according to the strategy (quality and quantity) and the needs identified </li><li>Supervises and supports Rehabilitation assistants in the provision of assistive devices and rehabilitation equipment. </li><li>Enhance and Ensure quality by supporting Technical Officer (TO)- Rehabilitation in the provision of assistive devices and rehabilitation equipment </li><li>Anticipate and update the need for assistive devices stock and rehabilitation equipment to the Technical Officer – Rehabilitation to ensure the PSR is addressed as per identified need and Project Manager </li><li>Support TO in ensuring the quality of assistive devices and rehabilitation equipment in the warehouse as per the request of TO or as necessary. </li><li>Plan and utilize the local resources to ensure reasonable accommodation for the beneficiary where needed </li></ul><p> </p><h2>Responsibility 3: Accountability, Reporting, and Documentation</h2><p> </p><ul><li>Document beneficiary's care services by charting in beneficiaries and department records. </li><li>Write beneficiaries' case notes and reports and collect statistics. </li><li>Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. </li><li>Ensure beneficiaries sign in a necessary document during the donation of devices and specific items. </li></ul><h2>Responsibility 4: Provision of Stimulation Therapy Services</h2><p> </p><ul><li>Provide stimulation therapy sessions to children aged 6–59 months recovering from severe and moderate acute malnutrition under the technical supervision of the Physiotherapist.</li><li>Support the Physiotherapist in conducting developmental screening and functional assessment of children referred for stimulation therapy.</li><li>Implement individualized stimulation activities according to the therapy plan developed by the Physiotherapist.</li><li>Conduct structured 30–45 minute stimulation sessions using age-appropriate physical, sensory, cognitive, communication, and play-based activities.</li><li>Engage caregivers throughout the sessions and demonstrate simple stimulation activities that they can safely continue with their children at home.</li><li>Use locally adapted Toy Box materials and other appropriate rehabilitation and play materials to facilitate physical, sensory, cognitive, and emotional stimulation.</li><li>Encourage positive interaction between children and caregivers and promote caregiver participation in all stimulation activities.</li><li>Observe children’s responses, progress, and any concerns during sessions and promptly report these to the Physiotherapist.</li><li>Support the Physiotherapist in conducting follow-up and final developmental assessments and documenting the child’s progress.</li><li>Maintain a safe, clean, child-friendly, and inclusive stimulation therapy environment and ensure appropriate use and care of rehabilitation materials and equipment.</li><li>Maintain accurate records of children receiving stimulation therapy, including attendance, sessions provided, caregiver participation, referrals, and follow-up.</li><li>Support identification of children who may require additional rehabilitation, health, protection, or other specialized services and communicate concerns to the Physiotherapist.</li><li>Participate in regular supervision, coaching, and technical capacity-building sessions provided by the Physiotherapist.</li><li>Work closely with nutrition assistants, nurses, medical staff, and other relevant team members to facilitate timely referral and continuity of care.</li><li>Contribute to community and caregiver awareness activities related to WHO and the Sudan Ministry of Health constitute the main leads of the TWG with IMC as the co-lead. The incumbent manages security focal point persons in all operational locations, whose role encompasses both traditional INGO safety and security management as well as various liaison and negotiation tasks that are critical to operating in Sudan.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Dimensions of Role</strong></p><p>This role is line managed by the Country Director (CD), and supervises all staff designated with security and liaison responsibilities, some of whom are stationed in programme areas. The incumbent is a budget holder for all security plans, and is a member of the extended Country Leadership Team (eCLT) will work with the mission to ensure that organizational security and access
