The position supports Program Officers and the Program Manager in following project implementation, consolidating updates, maintaining project records and trackers, coordinating internal actions, and ensuring timely follow-up of project deadlines and documentation.</p><p>The Program Associate works closely with field teams and relevant departments to ensure accurate and timely program information. Proposal development, resource mobilization, partnership development, and grant management are outside the core responsibilities of this position and are handled through the designated grant and partnership function.</p><h4>Duties and responsibilities</h4><h4>A. Field and Program Support</h4><ul><li>Support preparation for field visits, donor missions, monitoring visits, and project reviews by compiling required program information.</li><li>Collect site information, activity summaries, staff contacts, beneficiary information, GPS/location details, and other requested project information from field teams.</li><li>Participate in field visits when required and prepare brief field visit notes.</li><li>Follow up on program-related action points arising from field visits and reviews.</li></ul><h4>G. The IRC leads the way from harm to home.</p><p>In April 2026, IRC Sudan partnered with the UNDP and the Federal Ministry of Health to deploy four mobile clinic trucks, targeting remote populations. These units —allocated to Gedaref (1), Al Jazirah (2), and River Nile (1)— aim to improve healthcare equity by removing geographical and distance-related barriers for vulnerable communities.</p><h4>Duties and responsibilities</h4><p><strong>Main Purpose of Job:</strong></p><p>To drive the IRC Mobile Clinic truck (approx. 18 metric ton class heavy vehicle) or any other assigned health outreach vehicle, safely transporting the mobile clinic team, medical equipment and supplies to project sites (as per IRC responsible personnel).</p><p><strong>Duties & Responsibilities of Job:</strong></p><ul><li>He/she is the only person responsible and allowed to drive the Mobile Clinic truck unless otherwise authorized.</li><li>Operate an 18 metric ton class truck or equivalent safely on paved, unpaved, rural and difficult terrain roads to reach mobile clinic sites.</li><li>Ensure punctuality and safe trips to and from mobile clinic outreach locations.</li><li>Observe the road and traffic laws and regulations of the Republic of the Sudan, including those specific to heavy/commercial vehicles.</li><li>Ensure that safe driving practices are adhered to including local driving codes and internally agreed standards for heavy trucks.</li><li>Assess road conditions and vehicle load (medical equipment, supplies, cold-chain items) before and during travel to ensure safe transport.</li><li>Advise passengers and health staff accompanying the mobile clinic team to always wear seatbelts while on board and ensure that no non-medical passengers are transported unless authorized by management (filling IRC Passengers Liability Waiver).</li></ul><p><strong>Car Security & Maintenance</strong></p><ul><li>Always keep the Mobile Clinic truck clean, tidy and in good working condition.</li><li>Always secure the truck during travel and while parked.</li><li>Establish a regular/day-to-day check, including checks specific to heavy truck systems (brakes, tyres, load securing, suspension).</li><li>Perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs, prepare the truck spare parts inventory.</li><li>Assist the Supply Chain Assistant to ensure the truck insurance and registration is updated according to schedule.</li></ul><p><strong>Car Logbook Maintenance</strong></p><ul><li>Log official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, truck service, maintenance etc.</li></ul><p><strong>Communications and Working Relationships:</strong></p><ul><li>Establish appropriate information-sharing relationships with staff in similar positions within other INGOs and car/truck rental companies.</li><li>Manage International Rescue Committee – Sudan relationship with other drivers/truck rental companies ensuring driving standards, passenger safety requirements and driver courtesy and punctuality is achieved.</li></ul><h4>Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required</h4><p><strong>Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills</strong></p><ul><li>At least 3-5 years of experience driving heavy trucks, with proven expertise handling similar 18 metric ton class trucks.</li><li>Education: High Secondary Sudanese Certificate is required (technical diploma is an advantage).</li><li>Understanding of Sudan Traffic Law, including regulations governing heavy/commercial vehicles.</li><li>Good traffic judgment and experience navigating rural, unpaved and difficult terrain roads.</li><li>Good knowledge of heavy truck mechanics and troubleshooting.</li><li>Excellent driving skills, particularly in handling large, heavy vehicles.</li><li>Valid heavy truck/commercial driving license (drivers licensed to operate 18 metric ton class trucks are highly recommended to apply for this position).</li><li>Well familiar with the roads and locations across Operating State.</li><li>First Aid Kit training is an advantage.</li><li>Arabic speaking and writing are a must.</li><li>Basic English speaking, writing, and understanding.</li><li>Ability to work in a challenging, post-conflict complex environment.</li><li>Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel is an advantage.</li><li>Being well-organized and systematic.</li><li>Careful, accountable, responsible, and punctual.</li><li>Honest and approachable.</li><li>Good personal grooming & personal presentation.</li><li>Commitment to the aims of International Rescue Committee Sudan.</li><li>Discreet and respectful of confidentiality.</li></ul><p><strong>Physical Environment and Demands:</strong></p><ul><li>This is a full-time position at the designated location (to be assigned later) with regular and extensive travel to International Rescue Committee program areas in Sudan.</li><li>Willing to work long and irregular hours, shift duty and on public holidays as required.</li><li>Willing to take regular and extensive travel to International Rescue Committee – Sudan health facilities and mobile clinic project areas in the
