a master's degree in WASH, Environmental Health, Development or related field is preferred<br>• Minimum ten (5) years of progressive experience in WASH programme management, with at least two years in a technical lead or specialist role; prior experience managing school WASH, WinS programming, or WFP/UN-funded WASH projects is strongly preferred<br>• Strong understanding of hygiene behavior changes and community engagement.<br>• Deep knowledge of SPHERE Standards, WinS (WASH in Schools) guidelines, ESMP frameworks, and gender-sensitive and disability-inclusive WASH design; The role supports preparation of designs, BoQs, specifications, tender documents, and site supervision to ensure quality delivery. The position also supports WASH behaviour change activities to improve sanitation and hygiene practices, prevent WASH-related disease outbreaks such as cholera, and strengthen community capacity for sustainable use and management of WASH facilities.</p><h4>Duties and responsibilities</h4><p><strong>1.Project planning and Implementation</strong> </p><p>• Support day-to-day implementation of WASH project activities in line with the approved work plan, DIP, budget, donor requirements, and World Vision standards.</p><p> • Prepare basic engineering designs and technical inputs for water supply and civil construction works, including drawings, BoQs, specifications, site measurements, and material estimates. Practical experience in implementing WASH project models, including sanitation, hygiene promotion, behaviour change, and community-based approaches. </p><p>4. Experience supporting WASH assessments, proposal development, project reporting, and donor-compliant documentation. </p><p>5. Experience mainstreaming gender, environment, peacebuilding, disability inclusion, and community accountability in project implementation. </p><p>6. Crisis Analysis provides insights into the contextual backdrop to our programming as well as timely, dynamic and granular data and analysis. </p><p>By considering the root causes and systemic drivers of fragility in a holistic manner, Crisis Analysis can support the crafting of truly transformative solutions that Mercy Corps’ foundational resilience approach calls for. The unit has carved out a niche among evidence and information providers in the humanitarian and development space, owing to the granularity, reactivity and holistic approach of our products, which focus on some of the most hard-to-reach, data-poor and complex contexts requiring assistance. </p><p>This is underpinned by our status as an operational INGO, which ensures that our analysis products are practicable and relevant for humanitarian and development actors.</p><p> </p><p><strong>The Position </strong>(General Position Summary)</p><p>The Field Data Officer collates, triangulates, and cleans field researchers' monitoring data, leads on coordination with external partners and state-level aid coordination groups and summarize findings for the Crisis Analysis Team.</p><h4>Duties and responsibilities</h4><p><strong>Essential Responsibilities </strong>(Example Section Below - Adapt to Specific Role, Safeguarding</p><p><strong>Objectives:</strong></p><p>Under supervision of the Team lead, the Field Data officer will be responsible for:</p><ol><li>Collating the day-to-day situation monitoring by field researchers and work on the triangulation, confirmation and cleaning of collated monitoring information.</li><li>Engage with the relevant state-level aid coordination groups and fora, summarize relevant information and present them to the crisis analysis team.</li><li>Lead data collection activities on specific projects working with Crisis Analysis Team and other partners.</li></ol><p>The Field Data Officer will receive training on collating, triangulating and confirming relevant information. Relevant information would typically include: economic activity and prices of goods; the structure of local communities; relative happiness or otherwise of people within the community; people moving out of or into the local area; etc.</p><p><strong>Activities:</strong></p><ul><li>Work with filed researchers to proactively identify relevant information</li><li>Engage in the triangulation and confirmation of events</li><li>Assist in designing data collection tools and interventions that incorporate CA standards on design and monitoring</li><li>Coordinate and play a role in country assessments as requested. We are committed to actively engaging communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects</p><h4>Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required</h4><h4><strong>Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills </strong></h4><ul><li>At least three years’ experience in the aid and development sector, with a level of experience in a conflict-affected environment;</li><li>Functional knowledge of Excel, data collection software such as Comcast, data analysis and visualization software such as R, Python or PowerBI;</li><li>Functional knowledge of GIS software such as ARC GIS and design software such as Adobe Illustrator is a plus; </li><li>Extensive experience living/working in Sudan;</li><li>Competency in Internet and Microsoft Office systems including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;</li><li>Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and spoken is required.</li></ul><h4><strong>Success Factors </strong></h4><p>The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources into clear and actionable insights.
